Located in TN, Nucor Steel Memphis is upgrading the bar mill automation. Russula is providing the automation equipment, engineering and on-site services of installation supervision, commissioning and training.
By upgrading existing hardware with technologically advanced systems, retrofitting increases automation equipment functionality and reliability. This extends the system lifecycle and decreases the need for maintenance in the future.
The existing Rockwell control system will be reused. A new rolling mill control application designed by Russula will be installed including: recipes, mill setup, interlocking, automatic cobble detection, impact speed drop compensation, minimum tension control, phamtom billet, crop and dividing shear control. After the upgrade the mill will be controlled by two CPUs. New HMI applications will be supplied for mill operations and maintenance. New operations and control desks, fabricated in Russula's workshop, will also be supplied.
