Russula has won a contract to develop a wastewater treatment plant for a fully integrated greenfield aluminum plant located in the US. Russula will be responsible for the entire project, from basic and detailed engineering, including both electrical and mechanical engineering, to process automation, installation supervision and commissioning.
The new wastewater treatment plant features Russula’s water solutions technology for the metals sector, which will minimize the consumption of chemicals and the generation of solid waste by using ceramic membranes and membrane bioreactor (MBR). Additionally, the plant features a water recovery zone, where water is recycled through ion exchange resins.
The new aluminum mill will be powered by renewable energy sources and aims to operate a carbon neutral, zero-waste facility. This state-of-the-art plant, which utilizes cutting-edge water treatment technology, will contribute to the aluminum plant's zero-waste production goals.
