Nucor Corporation Nebraska has chosen Russula to upgrade the NN2 rolling mill stacker and bundler area. The goal is to modernize the mill hardware and software by replacing the legacy DC motors, PLC, and remote IO with first line AC motors, drives and control. By updating and consolidating the electrical and automation equipment, rolling mill performance and maintainability will be improved.
Russula will supply the new ACS880 drives, AB ControlLogix control system and IO installed in new cabinets as well as HMI, operator, and local stations. In March, the Nucor Norfolk plant team visited the Russula headquarters and witnessed a full factory test. Commissioning of the new electrical equipment is scheduled for the second quarter 2024.
For nearly a decade, Nucor Nebraska and Russula have collaborated on many bar and wire rod mill optimization projects. This project strengthens the successful partnership between the two companies.
