The New Bar and Section Mill at Dojran Steel, Sidenor Group

Abstract: In 2016, Russula received an order from Dojran Steel to do a major overhaul on its plant located in Nikolic, F.Y.R. in Macedonia. The mill expansion project includes the supply of a new 350,000-tpy bar and section mill. New mechanical equipment, a control system and technical support are provided. As a result of the project, Dojran Steel will double its existing production and will increase the number of products it currently rolls. This paper will discuss the details of the project and the improvement benefits.
How to Apply Virtualization to Steel Plants

Abstract: Virtualization provides many benefits: greater flexibility and efficiency in CPU utilization, less power consumption and hardware procurement, better obsolescence management, more availability, easier configuration of backup and testing systems, and improved data recovery. This paper presents how to apply virtualization to steel plants in order to obtain the benefits it can offer. Two case studies will be examined that implement virtualization in two different rolling mill platforms. A brief overview of virtualization, its benefits and disadvantages will also be discussed.
