Nucor Marion automation and electrics
As part of the bar mill expansion project, Russula supplied the rolling mill automation and electrics to Nucor Steel in Marion, OH. The order was received in April, 2017.
Scope of Supply
Russula supplied the comprehensive automation and electric systems from the furnace exit to the bundling area and all the equipment in between for the 18-stand continuous bar mill. The scope of supply also included interfaces to the reheat furnace, billet handling equipment and water systems. The new rolling mill control system hosts the latest generation of ControlLogix controllers, which meet the rigorous requirements of today's smart factories in terms of safety and peformance.

Results
Russula delivered the automation and electrics equipment on schedule. In conjunction, Russula supplied a new water treatment to Nucor Marion. The 18-stand bar mill was commissioned in 2020. The new automation and electrics helped reduce operating costs and enhance Nucor's competitive position.
