As part of the Nucor's strategic plan to invest in profitable growth projects, Russula supplied a new water treatment plant for its inline bar mill expansion in Marion, OH. Russula received the order in March, 2018. This project was delievered in conjunction with the complete electrical and automation supply for the 18-stand mill.
The water treatment plant contact water circuit for the bar mill has a flowrate of 2,800 gpm (636 m3/h). Leveraging Russula's unique expertise in supplying water solutions specifically for the steel industry, the Nucor Marion water treatment plant focused on maximizing performance, sustainability, and compliance.
Included within the scope of supply was the initial water solution concept, detailed electrical and mechanical engineering, the electrical and mechanical equipment supply, installation supervision, on-site production and startup support.
Russula delivered the water treatment plant electrical and mechanical equipment in October, 2018. In addition to the water treatment plant, Russula supplied the comprehensive automation and electrical systems for the 18-stand continous bar mill from the furnace exit to the bundling area. The new water treatment plant was commissioned in the first quarter of 2020.
