Successful startup for Silat’s rebar and wire rod mill

On Tuesday, March 24th, the first billet was rolled on the rebar and wire rod mill of Silat (Siderúrgica Latino-americana), located in Fortaleza, Brazil. During the day, many billets measuring 130 mm x 130 mm x 12,000 mm were rolled and the 20mm bars were discharged onto the cooling bed.

Big River Steel awards water treatment plant to Russula

Russula is awarded one of the biggest contracts for Water Treatment Plants in the modern days of the steel industry. Planned to be operational by mid-2016, the new water treatment plant will treat and cool an average flowrate of 154,100 GPM of water from the, Meltshop, Caster & Hot Strip Mill, Laminar and Cold Mill.

Russula donates plants to Nelly Sachs Haus after METEC

After the METEC exhibition a good portion of the 3000 remaining plants were donated to the Nelly Sachs Haus, an elderly care center located 1.3 km from Messe Düsseldorf. The rest were donated to a non-profit youth center in Holland.

Control optimization for two strand wire rod mills

Russula has developed an algorithm to ensure correct and uniform coil formation, improving the quality of the final product. The optimization model is configured using a master line and a follower line with upstream control.
