In January 2020, Cascade Steel Rolling Mills awarded Russula a contract to upgrade the rod and bar mill in McMinnville, OR. This order follows a series of mechanical equipment supply, pass design, mill optimization and operational support projects that Cascade Steel and Russula have collaborated on over the years.
The scope of the automation upgrade includes 18 bar stands, the bar outlet up to the roller table and the rod outlet from the last stand to the coil unloading station. Existing drives will be integrated into the new automation system.
The mechanical upgrades include the finishing mill loopers, single and multistrand, including replaceable roller troughs. Additionally, the rod block entry equipment will be replaced, which include the pinch roll, divide shear, chopping shear, side looper and snap shear.
In the existing rod block, Russula will completely replace the existing pass design and supply all new guides, saddles, and both a bench and portable optics system. All guiding equipment will be fully machined, and proudly made in the U.S.A.
