In February 2020, Laminoirs des Landes (LDL), together with Russula, successfully commissioned the hydraulic shear of the heavy plate mill. Russula provided the automation solution, installation supervision and commissioning support.

With a capacity of 500,000 tons/yr, the mill produces 8-150 mm thick steel plate up to 3.4 m width and 24 m length.

The main goal of the project was the automation and integration of the new hot hydraulic shear supplied by Danieli, and once again, with this project, LDL reconfirms its trust in Russula automation solutions.

Automation and Services Scope of Supply:

  • Gear Motors
  • Motor Control Center
  • AC low voltaje drives (ABB ACS 880)
  • ControlLogix PLC
  • Local operator station
  • Electrical, softare and HMI engineering
  • Electrical installation supervision
  • Commissioning support
  • Production support
  • Two months remote support

The automation and electrical equipment was delivered to the Laminoirs des Landes site in December, 2019. Installation took place in January and commissioning in February, 2020.

This is the fourth project implemented at the LDL plant. Previous to this project, Russula supplied the water treatment plant and the complete electrical and automation supply for the heavy plate mill and the subsequent integration of a hot straightener.
