Liberty Steel & Wire contracts Russula for wire rod mill upgrade

As part of the Mill Pulse® suite order, Liberty Steel & Wire has contracted Russula to upgrade the two-strand wire mill located in Peoria, IL, USA. The objective is to upgrade the existing control system and drives that have become obsolete and are expensive to maintain.

The upgraded areas will be controlled by the modern Siemens Simatic S7-1500 series hardware and Wonderware Intouch interface, which will improve performance, facilitate training, spares and plant wide information gathering and reporting. Russula will supply pre-tested Sinamics drives will be supplied mounted in a new line-up of cabinets, to minimize wiring and installation on-site. Drive power distribution will be reutilized. An existing Wonderware InTouch HMI station will be integrated into the new Siemens Simatic S7-1500 automation system. New screens will be designed for the operation and supervision of the rod outlets area. Russula will also supply a new control desk designed for comfort and optimal workflow. The startup of all systems is scheduled for 2023.
