After the recent successful electrical and control system upgrades at Nucor Steel, Russula was pleased to receive an order in September 2016 to upgrade the Nucor Steel Kingman plant in Arizona.

Vetorial, one of the largest independent pig iron producers in Brazil, awards Russula a contract to upgrade its rolling mill located in Villa Hayes, Paraguay. The multi-phase revamp will replace obsolete control equipment with the latest generation of totally integrated automation.

This paper presents how to apply virtualization to steel plants in order to obtain the benefits it can offer. Two case studies will be examined that implement virtualization in two different rolling mill platforms.

In the fall of 2016, Russula successfully completed the control system upgrade of the Nucor Steel Kankakee mill in Bourbonnais, Illinois, USA. The mill produces 700,000 tpy of rebar and merchant bar products, including rounds, flats and angles.
